PLANNED CURLING
PROGRAMS
LEAGUES & EVENTS.
OC Curling currently has limited access to ice-time, at late in the evening hours. Having our own dedicated curling venue will allow us to expand programming, and host a number of diverse leagues and programs for the community.
Youth Programming
Curling isn't just a sport, it's a way for young people to build confidence, teamwork, leadership, and lifelong friendships. Curling is often embraced by kids who don't connect with traditional mainstream sports. A dedicated facility will allow OC Curling to introduce programs designed especially for kids and teens, including junior leagues, youth clinics and camps, and partnerships with local high schools and colleges.
Community Events
We will expand our current Learn to Curl and corporate event programs to share our love for the sport with the local community. OC Curling has taught over 2,000 Orange County residents how to curl, and with our own dedicated curling venue, we will not be limited by the availability of ice time.
Leagues
Our plans include a wide variety of weekly play for the local community, including leagues such as:
-
Beginner - new curlers who recently attended a Learn To Curl and would like to integrate into the club.
-
Youth & Junior - for club members aged 12-18 with all levels of experience.
-
Special Interest - leagues specifically designed around special interest groups such as wheelchair curling, seniors, high school or college sponsored leagues, LGBTQ+, etc.
-
Social - unique formats such as drop-in curling, doubles, triples, etc.
-
Recreational - a mix of fun and good-natured competition.
-
Competitive - for experienced curlers looking to develop skills and engage in competitive play.
Bonspiels (Curling Tournaments)
OC Curling will host a number of bonspiels targeted to both the local community and the broader international curling community. Our club has hosted bonspiels in the past that have brought curlers who have competed at the world level, including Olympic gold medalists. We will continue to host destination bonspiels in the Southern California area that will prove to be wildly popular among curlers around the world.
